German Shepherd Dog Training Sacramento

“My wife and I decided to buy a German Shepard puppy from a breeder, this time. I wanted an “A” male. Little did we know that “A” dogs from German bloodlines are much harder to handle. This fact is compounded because both my wife and I are elderly and I am on dialysis. I started from day-one trying to instill discipline; my wife just gave our dog Riese love. Riese started dominating my wife. I had to do something. I read some of the testimonials on Dave’s website. I called Dave and scheduled a session. We were immediately impressed with Dave’s abilities. Despite this lesson and despite seeing immediate improvement; I called Dave again. This time I left a message asking Dave to “just take our dog, “Riese!”” Instead, Dave called back and counseled my wife who was having a relatively more difficult time with Riese. Later we decided to send “Riese” to Dave’s board and train program. This decision saved our dog for us to enjoy for the rest of our lives. Thanks Dave.” Vic and Andrea Gonsalves

Service Dog Training

FORMER POLICE CHIEF and K-9 HANDLER“When our 11-year-old medical service dog died my wife and I were devastated. I am a retired law enforcement person who has been a police K-9 handler and have worked with hunting dogs all my life. We were recommended to a standard poodle breeder and selected 5-month-old “Maggie” to assume the medical service dog duties for my wife. We also heard about David Baron and Superdog. David started the training process with Maggie and my wife. We discovered some medical issues with Maggie and I was not optimistic about her outcome or success as a medical service dog. Thanks to David’s positive, upbeat approach and skill as a trainer he soon overcame my doubts and Maggie is well on her way to success in her new occupation. David Baron is an outstanding trainer of people AND dogs.” Gary Leonard

TITAN

“Wanted to write and let you know how happy we are with Titan our Rottweiler.  Our Vet had given us pills to make him sleepy before we could take him in for visits.  We were told that the best thing for Titan would be to “put him down”.  We contacted you last year and brought Titan in for his first class in 09/11.  We are so happy with the changes we’ve noticed in Titan.  Not only him but also our family.  We have all learned so much about dogs and their behaviors.  We took Titan in for a visit to the Vet last month.  We did not have to give Titan the sleepy pills and the vet was very pleased with him.  It was a totally different experience this time.  Although we were not able to complete all of Titan’s training we can still say the transformation is Night & Day compared to the dog we brought in several months ago. Thank you.” Rebecca & Shea Fuller

“Dave saved my dog’s life. Wilson, was completely out of control–not listening to me and behaving aggressively toward some people and many other dogs. I was worried that he would hurt someone, and thought I was going to have to put him to sleep. Nothing seemed to be working to get him under control. I started looking for a trainer who knew about aggressive dogs–and found Dave’s website. I lived in Santa Cruz at the time over 200 miles away from Sacramento where Dave is. I was nervous about driving so far but Dave was the most qualified trainer/behaviorist I could find in Northern California. After the first training session with Dave, I began to see immediate, amazing results. I highly recommend contacting him if you have a challenging dog like mine. Wilson went ballistic a couple times, but Dave is incredibly experienced and it was amazing how he handled a flat-out vicious dog. Everyone said Wilson could not be trained and that he needed to be destroyed-the veterinarian, three dog trainers, a behaviorist, and Animal Control. If I’d gone to Dave before using other, ineffective training methods, I would have saved myself a lot of frustration and money. Today, Wilson is a different dog–well behaved and under control. And I have a lot more peace of mind. It has been over four years now since we first came to see Dave and Wilson is a normal dog in every way now. If it was not for Dave, Wilson would be dead. I have known and used Dave and his assistant for two years. We have a wonderful, stubborn Lassapoo. From our first visit Missy and Dave joined forces. His task, to teach us how to work with Missy. What a joy. She could not wait to go to his training area. Loves to run through his front yard and playfully come waging back to him.  He was able to work with us in teaching her to stay at the front door, not bolt, and love it. She does everything he taught us to do with her. Missy has enjoyed her time with Dave.  I can call at anytime, ask questions, obtain feedback and NOT ONCE have I ever been treated poorly by Dave or his staff. This last weekend Missy was invited to Tahoe for the weekend with a family who to this point did not like dogs.  I received a call for Missy to come and play with the family again, they even let her roam the house.   Dave you and Niki are the best.  We recommend you and will bring all our dogs to you.” Susan, Stephen and Missy – Roseville, CA —–

Malamute Dog Training SacraMENTO

“Dave Baron and his Superdog training program were recommended to us by a friend. At the time, we owned (and still have) a purebred, female Alaskan Malamute and as dog owners everywhere know this bred is very difficult to train. After one private training class and another at a major brand pet chain, we were becoming desperate to get our girl in control, obedient and to stop terrorizing our cats. It took Dave and his assistant trainer just three weeks to get our girl under control and to become a more loving dog. His techniques are very professional and our girl quickly realized her days of being the Alpha female were numbered. She even hangs out with the cats now. My wife and I highly endorse and recommend Dave Baron and his Superdog training program and would not hesitate using him again for our next dog.” Celeste and John Schleimer Roseville, CA —–

“We have two Portuguese Water Dogs and an Alaskan Malamute. The malamute is the reason we used Dave’s services. We were given fair warning by the breeder that we would have to let Neeka know who was in charge from the get-go. We started with Dave when Neeka was four months old. We’ve consistently used what we’ve learned and all three dogs are well-behaved and obedient. I contacted Dave due to some aggressive behavior Neeka was beginning to display, and even though our contract had been expired for over a year, he agreed to work with us. I’m very appreciative of Dave allowing us to use our last sessions, even though they are expired. He’s made every effort to meet our needs, including seeing us on the weekend so that my husband could be part of the initial training. I’m sure that we’ll have the necessary skills to deal with Neeka when she thinks she’s “large and in charge.” Lisa S

“Dave Baron is a gifted trainer.  When we came to see him back in 2007, we were desperate.  Our dog Rudy was out of control, both people and dog aggressive.  We had seen multiple dog trainers, behaviorists and even a specialist at Cornell University.  Everyone told us to put the dog down.  We were heartbroken and turned to Dave as a last resort.  When we arrived at his beautiful ranch, we were extremely anxious but Dave quickly calmed our fears by integrating Rudy into his pack of rescue dogs.  He also showed us techniques for how to establish a stable pack of our own and after a period of time, Rudy came back to live with us.  When we brought Rudy to see Dave, he was highly aggressive and anxious.  After working with Dave, Rudy was sweet, well behaved and no longer dog or people aggressive.   I am so grateful to Dave for his help in saving our dog Rudy.  I think the true sign of a gifted trainer is someone who is able to transform the truly difficult cases.  It doesn’t take much skill to treat train a dog that is essentially spoiled but otherwise relatively stable.  Dave is a dog trainer that is continually challenging himself by deliberately seeking difficult cases, dogs that others have given up on and/or have been severely abused or abandoned.

Admittedly I was a little nervous at first. I took my dog to dave anyway as I had a hell of a time getting time off from work and since I had made the time I figured I may as well give this a go. All I can say is wow. Dave was not only very professional, he was very informative. I am extremely impressed and would recomend Dave anyday. I couldn’t get Maxx (a 2 year old German Shepherd) to listen to a word I said. After 2 hours working with dave and learning how to get my dogs respect and attention I would swear its a different dog…and we are only at the first lesson. He really knows his business and without being harsh he showed me how dogs act in the wild and in packs. I could see that his method not only worked wonders its nothing in comparison to how dogs behave with each other. Maxx is still the same fun loving crazy dog he was before with one major change, he listens to me. Nicholas I’m glad I chose Dave and consider his expertise worth every penny. He set up my next apointment for 2 weeks from the first one and gave me a list of things I can work on with Maxx to hone the skills learned today. I’m very pleased and highly recomend Dave for dog training needs. He doesn’t bribe with food or punishment, just shows the dog who the leader is and expects the dog respond….and it works!!” Nicholas

“Our white German Shepherd, Xena, was out of control before we met Dave Baron. We liked the fact that she was good natured, playful and exhibited a spark of enthusiasm, but that came with chaos. She was hyper to the extreme, maybe would come when called, and my wife literally could not walk her because she pulled and tugged and could not be contained even with a harness or pinch collar. It wasn’t because of a lack of effort on our part. When we got her from a breeder at 8 weeks old we had already watched dozens of dog training shows and read several books, we then immediately enrolled her in a clicker class and practiced every day. All to no avail. When she was 6 months old, we frantically searched the internet for help and found “Superdog.”Today, after 8 months, 6 sessions, 2 weeks at Dave’s house, and practice, practice, practice, Xena is almost, but not quite, to the Superdog standard. It has not been easy, however, Dave even commented that she was probably her toughest customer.  But, today we are ecstatic with her performance. She still shows her spark of exuberance occasionally, but for the most part her behavior is amazing. “Down,” “come,” “sit,” “down stay,” “sit stay,” and “heel” are a given. She basically happily does what you ask her to do. She will “down stay” effortlessly for well over an hour and my wife can walk her at a heel position, comfortably. She is better when my wife walks her and another dog approaches. She is more responsive to me. Yesterday, when walking her, I passed 4 yapping, feisty small dogs, and as we passed the leash did not become taut once and she continued to heel. There were 4 people walking these unruly dogs and as I passed I heard three comments: “What a beautiful dog,” “Oh, she’s still a puppy,” and “What a well-behaved dog.” We can thank Dave for that last comment. Above all, Dave is dedicated to his profession. At 2 of our visits, there was a different visiting trainer from another state learning how to train dogs from Dave. For us, that interaction reinforced in our mind Dave’s stature in the dog training community and also showed us his openness to new ideas and approaches. Dave not only returned all our calls, but he initiated calls checking on our progress. He genuinely has taken an interest completing the job successfully. He made himself available the day after Thanksgiving because my schedule was tight, and he voluntarily took Xena in for 14 days when we were on a trip, to see what made her tick. Upon our return, she had improved dramatically. We are very happy that we retained Dave Baron and Superdog. Xena is one of the most well behaved dogs I know, and at the same time, has not lost her friendly and happy attitude.” Allen Ratcliffe

“Dave Baron is a dog obedience training genius! We were at our wits end with our 2 dogs. Our 2 dogs were both 1 1/2 years old and were settled into their ways – THEIR OWN WAY not our way, at least that is what we believed at the time. One is a 75 pound American Staffordshire Terrier (Eli Manning) and the other is a 45 pound Boxer/Pointer mix (Lily Bear). We also have two very high energy kids… together, we loved our dogs so much to the point that we allowed them equal status in our home and slowyly the dogs took over. Enter Dave… We learned that our dogs are animals not people. We learned that dogs can change at any age. We learned that dogs will respond appropriately when they are obedient. We learned how to work with our dogs. We learned how to interpret our dogs actions and behaviors by NOT humanizing them. We learned that as cute as dogs are, they are very manipulative and EXTREMELY smart. Our dogs now walk behind or beside us with only their normal collar (no more fancy leaders or expensive workarounds that only make the problem worse) AND our dogs will now walk behind us or beside us OFF OF THE LEASH!!! We can command our dogs to stay on their outdoor mat when we are camping and they will not move from it because we told them not to. The secret to Dave’s success with us and our dogs is that we had to be willing to listen and trust him and do EXACTLY as he instructed. We continue to work with our dogs to this day and are now teaching our dogs to find each member of the family by name and scent using only the obedience techniques that Dave taught us. If you want to learn how you can teach your dogs to be obedient and at the same time learn how to train all of your future dogs – hire Dave and begin to really enjoy your dogs. You can stop at obedience or you can go the extra mile like we did – once you hire Dave, the sky’s the limit and your dogs can become more apart of the family than you ever imagined!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVE – WE LOVE YOU AND WILL ALWAYS BE GREATFUL THAT WE FOUND YOU! The Johnsons

“We would like to say a few words about dog trainer, Dave Baron of Superdog and how much he has helped our “problem dog”, Ringo. We inherited Ringo, a 7-8 year old small Jack Russell/mix terrier from an elderly friend.  And for 4-5 long years we tried with all our hearts to make him happy.  Everyone we know as well as people from his past said, “put that mean, crazy dog to sleep!” But, my husband and I felt sure that inside was a happier dog trying to get out.  He was very aggressive and dominating and would be threatening around any other animals in sight. When we found out about Superdog we hoped we had found a solution and when we visited the facility we were sure.  Dave really cares about the animals there and we could see that they take good could care of them.  The Superdog training has really changed Ringo for the better.  He can now be relaxed and social around other animals and strangers!  That is, honestly, a miracle!  He will always be an “eccentric” little dog but, Dave has done wonders with him.We thank him for his help with Ringo and wish Dave Baron all the best as he continues his program, helping these “problem” dogs be happier, healthier pets and companions.  Most Sincerely,” Stephanie & T J Politzer

“My wife and I adopted a two year old Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix from Labrador Rescue named Nellie. She was 15 pounds over weight and way over the top with energy and boundless behavior. She demonstrated all the attributes of no training nor discipline. Upon getting her home from the foster home I went to the internet and started looking for a dog trainer. After trolling through several I was taken by Dave Baron’s video and photos of all the dogs getting along and walking together. So, I called Dave and we set up the first meeting.Fast forward six weeks. We now have the knowledge and experience to assist our dog to be very well behaved. In the very first session Nellie learned Heel, Down, Sit and Get Back. I took her out every day for multiple walks and training exercises and we drilled and drilled. I was very determined. Thankfully, she was a very fast learner; true to her nature as a Lab, she wants to please. In our next lesson with Dave we covered stay and come in addition to integrating them with the other behaviors. Our third session focused on working Nellie (and us) with other dogs who possibly could pull Nellie off command. Nellie has done extremely well. If all goes to plan, Dave may have Nellie talking in our next session.Seriously, Dave’s training for us and Nellie has been one of the most enjoyable experiences in recent memory. We have seen our newly adopted dog, with a lot of potential but some bad behaviors, become a well-behaved companion. My wife and I really appreciate so very much Dave’s insights, patience and skill in helping us become co-trainers of Nellie. The process is intelligent, caring and effective! Thank you, thank you Dave!!” Hal & Adeline Johnson

“Highly Recommend! My experience with Superdog has been excellent. I was referred to Superdog by a friend who had been a satisfied client. David Baron presented himself and his service to us in a very professional manner. The terms and conditions were outlined precisely before an agreement was signed. We were given a copy of the contract. We understood clearly what our responsibilities were and we understood how David would help us achieve our objectives for our dog. David made it clear that success was dependant on the amount of effort and time that we as owners were willing to dedicate. We have had no problem scheduling lessons with David. He has given us clear instructions at every lesson along with a written plan to use at home between lessons. Our results, to date, have been excellent. Our dog has made steady progress and is becoming the obedient dog that we were hoping for at the outset of our relationship with David Baron and Superdog. We couldn’t be more pleased with the service and would recommend Superdog to anyone seeking professional obedience training for their dog.” Ken & Shirley Zeff Chicago Park, CA

“We took our 3 VERY BAD, VERY LARGE dogs to Dave. We had adopted 2 of them when they were only 2 months old and the first dog when he was 1. We had no idea why they were so disobedient, but they were so bad that we had to walk them one at a time or one person per dog, and even then it was a struggle with 2 of them being well over 100 lbs and the small one being 90 lbs. We literally couldn’t take them anywhere, they were totally unmanageable. They would jump all over us and never listen to anything we said and growl at our guests/fam./friends/neighbors. It takes a lot of headaches and stress for us to shell out $1200 for dog lessons (this price was for 1-3 dogs), but after speaking over the phone to countless (less expensive) dog trainers (and others were much closer in proximity- we live in Greenhaven/pocket), we decided that Dave was the clear choice. He was super informative and courteous on the phone and didn’t pressure us at all. We took our dogs out to him to meet him in June and by our to Dave. He was super informative and courteous on the phone and didn’t pressure us at all. We took our dogs out to him to meet him in June and by our last lesson (a few weeks ago) we are MORE than completely and totally satisfied; we are actually ecstatic, we didn’t realize that it was even possible to reach the level of progress with our dogs that we achieved thru Dave’s lessons. Everyone who knew how they were before now is also shocked at how well behaved they are, Dave really worked a miracle with his common sense training techniques. He always made it clear to call anytime with any questions or concerns and we did bother him quite a bit in between lessons and he was always professional and gracious with his time and advice. Do not believe other reviews, he is really a great dog trainer.

Amazing!! We rescued a 4 year old Australian Shepherd in March of 2010 and within the first month of having him, he had several instances of agressive behavior toward other dogs. This was the main reason for contacting Dave. After only one lesson, we had a well behaved dog that was eager to learn and more importantly, owners who knew how to be the dog’s master. I had no previous experience with dogs so was somewhat apprehensive and nervous to correct the dog’s bad behavior. Dave’s methods are right to the point. After an initial consult with the owners and their dogs to really map out what the problem areas are, we were outside practicing different commands. Dave demonstrates the command with the dog and then has the owners start doing it for themselves, showing exactly how to command the dogs attention. After a few hours, not only was my dog responding perfectly, but I was a changed person in respect to how to handle my dog. I gained amazing confidence!! This I found to be Shepherd in March of 2010 and within the first month of having him, he had several instances of agressive behavior toward other dogs. This was the main reason for contacting Dave. This I found to be the most important factor in the ongoing training at our home. Dave really emphasized gaining trust from the dog and once the dog realized we were in control of the situation, he calmed down and responded enthusiastically to the training. What’s really nice is he has lots of land around his house, providing ample space to work with the dogs. The relationship with my dog after only one lesson was literally night and day. We went from thinking about getting rid of the dog to him being our best friend. What’s also great about Dave is the freedom we had with with how we wanted to handle further training. You can go to his house, he will come to your house, he will meet you at a dog park, he will even board your dog for one on one training with him for however long the training takes. We followed up the first lesson with two more lessons at Dave’s house over the next few months. The second and third lesson involved Dave using his dogs to familiarize our Aussie with other dogs, as well as furthering his repertoire of commands. It worked brilliantly!! The end result, at least for us, has been a perfectly behaved, extremely happy, well trained dog and very confident enthusiastic owners. We have since rescued a second Aussie, and for no further charge to us, Dave has been happy to have us bring both dogs over for training. I highly recommend him and would go to no one else if we were to get another dog. Thanks Dave!!

I have a 10 month old pit bull mix that knew he could get away with anything. We took him to Dave Baron, very skeptical at first as I’m not trusting of most trainers as they’ve not shown any experience with stronger type breeds. Dave immediately had him under control. We were quite amazed but still skeptical. We visited Dave a few times and he taught us techniques that are very beneficial to us as a family. Sure, we don’t agree with Dave’s way of having dogs fed off of concrete floors or not letting them snuggle on the couch once in awhile, but his techniques work and he’s proven himself to us. We trust Dave and understand his way, although again we are more lenient, but he knows what he’s doing and has reduced the stress and increased a better way of life for us with our pup. I know people don’t see eye to eye with Dave Baron as posts have indicated and at first I thought he was a little odd, but all and all Dave is a really nice man, very professional, and has given us the tools needed to that knew he could get away with anything. I, at times, was often loud and more aggressive with my dog and Dave told me to tune it down and that my dog was just part of the family and just a pup. I think Dave is sincere and anyone is more than welcome to email me about my experience with Dave.” cherylsbiz@hotmail.com

“The kind of trainer that improves lives! Dave is an amazing dog trainer that has spent a lot of time and energy helping some of the toughest cases of rescue dogs around. If anyone has adopted a rescue or worked with a rescue organization, they may be aware that rescue dogs can be tough to train and training is the one most important variables in a successful adoption to a forever home. I have worked with rescued dogs for 5 years now and started my own non-profit rescue in June. I was introduced to Dave through my mentor, who had called on Dave to help! Dave not only helps the troubled dogs as a volunteer gig but he encourages volunteers from the rescues to come and learn from him. I sought out Davids help with a 70 lbs Husky named Max that had food aggression. He actually bit me and I had to get stitches. David was willing to help Max and train him so we could find him a home. Without David, Max had no hope for a better life. David not only trained Max and exterminated his food aggression, but found Max an Dave is an amazing dog trainer that has spent a lot of time and energy helping some of the toughest cases of rescue dogs around. Dave has trained dogs that no one was sure could have a different life and he has worked on training people so that more dogs can have loving forever homes. Dave opens his heart to his clients and is not in dog training for any other reason than he genuinely wants to help people and their dogs, but mostly, he wants to help dogs find balance, peace and stay in their happy homes. I couldn’t begin to describe how much I admire the work that Dave does, but I can say as a trainee that he is a great teacher.

Dave has been fantastic with our dogs! We have had some serious problems and though we have only had a few lessons so far we have already seen diffrences in our dogs behaviors. We have 4 dogs – 2 goldens, a jack russel and a chi-doxie. All of our dogs have there own issues but the worst of it being all of our dogs continually picking on the chi-doxie. Working with Dave has allowed the two biggest trouble makers to socialize again. We have had to keep them all seperate for months and it has caused a strain on our family. Now the two dogs who have been most aggressive with each other sleep on the same bed, eat togeather and play togeather. Dave’s techniques are straight forward and easy to adapt, but the owner must know that they are an active participant in making there dogs behave. Without your commitment to your dog it can’t work. Dave has given us the skills and we are adapting them with success. We hope to soon have all our dogs togeather and we know we will have Dave to thank for this success.

I hired Dave Baron in 2005 to train our un-neutered Maltese. I was looking for a trainer that did NOT use treats. I did NOT care much about commands. He was biting us, excessively barking, walking him was impossible, defecating in the house, marking inside the house and was just behaving in a dominant way. We knew that treat training was NOT an option, since it was behavior training our Maltese needed. We read the www.superdog.com web site a few times before contacting Dave Baron. After the first lesson 80% of his dominant behavior was corrected. Dave Baron’s “Dog Psychology Method” was very easy to grasp. He taught us how to become “Leaders” by using body language, tone of voice and following through. By the third lesson (3 months later) our Maltese dominant behavior was nonexistent. He was “Off Leash” at the dog park or when we took him camping. He was doing an impressive half hour “Down Stay” at the dog park with 8-10 other dogs running around, people calling him by his name, and petting him too! Not once did he break the “Down Stay” within that half hour. I had no need for the fourth and final lesson, but did use his life time telephone follow up to ask questions. My calls were returned in a timely manner. Dave was always a great help over the phone and very patient. I had lots of questions! We felt that we received our monies worth of training and life time knowledge of how to train dogs. I would recommend Dave Baron for fast results in training your dog/s. Dave has a passion for training any dog/s. He has also rescued and taken in dogs that he’s called his own, that otherwise would be put down due to aggressive behavior. Not only was I a past client, but was so impressed with the program that I started to work for Dave Baron as a dog trainer. After about one year as a trainer, I moved to Southern California. Dave Baron offered to help and mentor me in starting dog training in Southern California. I have now been training in Southern California from 2006 to present. I have helped hundreds of dogs with Dave Baron’s “Dog Psychology Method”. Dave Baron and I have maintained a business/friend relationship that has helped train and save lots of dogs. That might have otherwise been surrendered to shelters, re-homed or even worse, put down. Thank You! Dave! for your great dedication and program that works.

David Baron is our trainer for our two Long Hair Dachshunds. We rescued Emmy and Theo (sister and brother, go to David’s website and see them in action) about six months ago. We soon realized they were out of control. Theo was aggressive to other dogs and Emmy just thought she didn’t need to listen. We went through classes at a local pet store, without positive results. We intervied numerous dog trainers in the area and felt David’s techniques and personality would work for us. David’s technique is getting your dog to “respect you”, so they will listen to your commands. David not only trains your dog, but more importantly trains the OWNERS to train their dog. He cannot do it alone because he is not with your dog 24/7. We have found David is NOT an hourly, 8-5, clock watching, type trainer. He will stay with the training till that days our trainer for our two Long Hair Dachshunds. He will stay with the training till that days training goal is accomplished. David has gone out of his way to come to our home and meet at the dog park to accomplish our training goals. Most importantly we feel David will stick with you and your dog training till all goals are met. We highly recommend David Baron!

When we rescued our border collie, Sam, from the County animal shelter, it was obvious that he was a very intelligent dog. Sam was very headstrong and he wanted to be in charge. He responded to basic commands when he felt like it, but usually he just ignored us. Though he had an aggressive side towards people and other dogs, we did not give up on him. We knew he had the potential to be a great dog. After the first session with David, we saw what Sam was capable of. Working with Sam was hard work and we encountered many frustrating moments. But with patience and practice, we now have a dog that follows off-leash commands like a gentleman. Sam is pleasant and playful when surrounded by people and dogs at the dog park, something that we thought would never happen. Looking back on the experience, most of the training was really for US. David taught us what we needed to do to help Sam listen and behave. David’s style of training is very concise, requires practice, and delivers results immediately. Completing the training, start to finish, was an incredible accomplishment for everyone. The reward pays off in many ways, especially when other people tell us they wish their dog was like Sam! The greatest satisfaction comes when we have Sam under control in the open fields while he runs around having the time of his life. Thank you Dave!

David Baron only does good when training owners to train and keep their dogs in their homes. Without David and the Superdog program many owners would lose their dogs to euthenization. Only jealous rivals would say negative things about David and the Superdog program. I am most definitely better off as a dog trainer being a part of Superdog and having professional training by David himself. I am the Superdog trainer for Idaho and will never look back being involved with David and Superdog. I only had good experiences when I went and trained with him at the DogAnswersRanch. I learned more than I ever thought I could about dog training with David. He helped me become the dog trainer that I never thought I could be.

I simply can’t speak highly enough of Dave. In only four sessions he completely turned my dog’s aggressive behavior around. I am so thankful for his doggie-magic. I own a four-year old Basenji who showed intense aggression towards people and other dogs. I tried positive reinforcement training but after three sessions and bags and bags of treats, it simply wasn’t effective (and heaven-forbid you run out of treats!) I was worried she was going to bite someone and starting to lose hope that I could curb her bad behavior. Then, David showed up, gave me some simple, easy-to-follow instructions and a slew of things I could do myself to work with my dog. By the end of the first session I was already amazed- my dog was behaving completely differently and I finally felt hope that her aggressive behavior could be changed. Now, when I walk my dog, she pays attention to me and the signals I give her instead of going after people and other dogs. If you are looking for an effective trainer who can give you the tools you need to positively change your dog’s behavior, David Baron is your trainer. I can’t recommend him enough.

Dave at Superdog has an intuitive way with dogs. It’s incredible — within minutes of meeting the tiny little terrors that are my boyfriend’s and my dogs, he had them calmed down and behaving like dogs instead of the hungry lunging monsters piranhas they usually are. Just for some background, my little 20-lb yorkie mix and boyfriend’s 10-lb rat terrier mix are quite possibly the rottenest little dogs on the planet. Sure, they have the adorable punishment-avoiding, food-mooching puppy dog eyes thing down like nobody’s business — but that’s around us. Around strangers, or around other dogs, they are downright embarrassing. Let me tell you, you get mighty sick of constantly apologizing to your neighbors and furtively sneaking out in the middle of the night to walk your dogs in the hopes of avoiding others. So we were skeptical, but believe it or not Dave got those horrible little runts to behave! My one caveat is that you have to actually keep up with the tricks and training tools he gives with dogs. My one caveat is that you have to actually keep up with the tricks and training tools he gives you, which admittedly can be a pain in the ass (no pain no gain, right?) But if you stick with the training you will have yourself a well-behaved dog. I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself. Dave is an all-around pleasant and awesome guy and just plain good human being, Dave does what he can to keep you from paying through the nose too. Dog training (at least any that’s worth it) won’t be cheap no matter where you get it, but Dave gets your dog to behave, even off the leash with as few sessions as possible. None of this “buy ten sessions and we’ll reassess” crap a lot of other trainers will give you. Dave’s program is flat rate and he never asks for more money. Where it’s possible, he fixes your dog-related difficulties in just a handful of visits and then leave you and your furry child to live your lives, with money left over for dog treats.

Thank You Superdog! Initially, we had no control over our Pomeranian and two Border Collies. Our larger Border Collie, Cinder, had become quite aggressive. We were heartbroken at the thought of having to put him down. After much research, we found Superdog and Dave Baron. We agreed to have Dave train Cinder and Rainy, and it wasn’t long before Dave’s training methods put us in-charge. For Cinder and Rainy’s “graduation”, we met Dave at Bear Dog Park in Roseville, CA. Both dogs obediently heeled off-leash around the entire park while many other dogs were running around nearby. Amazing! Our dogs seem happier now and we no longer have aggression issues with Cinder. Dave asked us to call him if there was any problems with Cinder in the future. On a side note, we did notice some acutely negative reviews on this site about Dave. Feel free to ask Dave for our phone number – “Cinder and Rainy’s parents”. We would be happy to talk with you.

Very happy with Dave’s dog training service! I needed some help because I was not able to control my dog’s aggression towards other dogs. I had read half dozen books on dog training but I still could not solve this problem. Dave explained to me exactly what I was doing wrong. He then proceeded to coach me and demonstrate the correct training method to solve this problem. I followed up doing the training homework Dave assigned. I can now go on walks and my dog is not only well behaved but happier.

VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EFFECTIVE - We appreciate all that Dave did for us. Tahoe (our dog) is doing great now with our newborn. The training that Tahoe received allowed all of us (newborn included) to go for walks. This was right after I had surgery since he heels right behind us and does not pull at all. His off leash training has been wonderful and extremely useful. We can hardly believe how good Tahoe is now. This drive to Sacramento from our home in Reno was well worth the trouble and expense. We looked at every dog trainer in Northern California and Dave stood out by far. He was easy to understand, concise and made the training fun for us. We really felt empowered that we were taught the skills necessary to feel confident enough to have our dog under control in any situation, even if he was not on a leash. Dave was a little more money, but well worth it. Mike & Holly Anderson, Reno

Gettin’ control of Jake I will start by saying my experience is with Dave himself, who, I am privileged to be personally working with. My dog is a rescue dog (Chuahua/Corgie mix maybe) and I came to Dave because a friend recommended him and I didn’t know how, exactly, to go about training my new pet. He was a runner if a door got opened or he ever saw a glimpse of freedom, he was gone gone gone. This dog knew no U turn! The idea that I would some day walk to the park off leash (or dragging a leash I don’t have to touch) did not seem possible to me any more than the likelihood that he would quit marking everything everywhere! Well, I learned precisely how to behave and what to do to enhance my relationship with my dog, be perceived as the leader and much worth following, as well as the benevolent provider of all things: Food, protection, affection, etc. I am happy to say a few short weeks later my dog is the envy of all who see him. People can’t help but comment on his excellent citizen ship. He, in turn, enjoys much greater freedom to join me in virtually any environment…even homes where dogs are not normally allowed welcome my little guy because he is such a pleasure and not a pain to have around. I can assure you that there is no cowering or trauma to my dog as a result of Dave’s traditional methods. The word correction may be daunting to some, but administered properly it is simply unemotional detached information you are communicating to your dog. My first meeting with Dave he had me through away my choke chain in favor of a gentler break away snap collar. He truly understands that it is the strength of the relationship that counts and not the strength of the correction. My dog is a balanced, happy, contented dog whom I can take anywhere at anytime and who loves and respects me. I can’t speak for the other trainers in his organization because I have no experience with them. It does occur to me however, that other reviewers here don’t really have experience with them either and I would seriously question the value of their comments for that reason. I do not know Dave personally as I only met him when we began training. I paid him for his professional services and they were rendered in a manner which was easy for me to follow and replicate at home. He told me precisely what to do and I did precisely what he said. Six weeks later I could not be a happier camper.

Thank God for Dave The Dog Trainer I have 2 pittbull puppies and my first day of training I let Sasha and Chance out of my car and they got away from me and they were both running all over the place and jumping on Dave’s furniture. Needless to say we were all in depserate need of training. Dave has proven to be a huge wealth of knowledge and asset for me in my life with my dogs. Having two pittbulls is a huge responsiblity and undertaking. Dave has taught me to be the pack leader and the importance of training my furry family members. After the first session both dogs were walking on heel! Last week one my neighbors stopped me and asked me how in the world I got my dogs to walk behind me on the leash. After telling him about Dave the dog trainer he asked for his phone number. Dave has a true talent and a true passion for animals. We are so lucky to have such an experienced dog trainer in the Sacramento Valley!

My dog’s trainer, my teacher, co-worker and friend… I first met Dave in 2006. I found my dog Tyson at the Sacramento City Pound. I had been working with dogs as a part time “treat trainer” as a hobby for five years, so I thought Tyson would be no problem for me. Wow was I wrong!! Tyson is a beautiful pitbull mix that was OUT OF CONTROL! He marked everything inside and out, ate screens, cubboards, blinds, furniture, pulled VERY hard on the leash, barked at EVERYTHING, and had major separation anxiety. I hired Dave to help me. FIRST LESSON my dog was fixed! Dave seemed more strict than I was used to, but that was okay, because what I was used to did not work in the least! Dave taught me how to be in control of my dog and be the leader, including everything from sit to perimeter training. By the third lesson,Tyson was completely “off leash trained” and still is to this day. After a few lessons I requested to learn from Dave on a professional level. I can testify from daily experience how many dogs Dave and his program has saved and am touched by how many people were able to keep their families together because of this training. Bad reviews and complaints are from people who dont or cant grasp that treat training is great for tricks or complicated tasks, but not for behavioral modification. Bad or rude behavior requires the owner to modify how they behave…. a lot of people are not willing to do that, even if it means their dog is put down. Baby talking, catering, and giving in just makes things worse. I have never seen Dave abuse any dog or respond inappropriately to a dogs behavior….pinch collar? YES! But wouldnt you want more control over an aggressive dog that is charging up to bite you?? I no longer work for Dave due to family obligations, but we still work together and remain great friends. I highly recommend Dave to anyone wanting a better behaved dog! Please feel free to email me with any questions at gordoncanineservices@gmail.com

The best dog trainer I have worked with! Dave is outstanding. My family has worked with other dog trainers and nothing has worked. This year one of my dogs (a Chesapeake Bay Retriever) attacked a family friend when we were not at home. We were sick about the situation, but our friend told us things happen and it might of been her fault. My wife found Dave on the web, and they spent over an hour on the phone talking about both our dogs (the other is a Jack Russell Terrier mix) She scheduled a lesson for both dogs and the entire family. I had read bad review about Dave and gave him a call. He gave us the names of other clients of his and they were positive about him. In talking to Dave he said the first lesson would be free if we did not like what we saw. Well he was amazing. In a few minutes he had both dogs in the down position and walking behind us in a heel. He taught us what we need to do to control the dogs (it was not hard). That next weekend we went camping with out dogs (which usually is a nightmare) and we Dave is outstanding. Due to a family emergency we have put off the next lesson, but our dogs are not the same dogs that we brought to Dave. We can leave them in a down stay position for over an hour with all sorts of things going by and they stay, or walk them down town on a busy day and all is good. I would suggest that everyone go to Dave. The only people that would not like Dave are people that want to treat their dogs like spoiled children, and not well behaved dogs. Matt :-)

A Completely Satisfied Customer My partner and I have been in and out of various training programs for nearly 10 years. David Baron teaches the owners in how to effectively train and communicate with their dogs. What he did with our four dogs was nothing short of amazing. Really with just a few lessons we had gotten farther with our dogs than we have with months and months of dog training with other trainers. Dave changed our lives and has helped us build remarkable relationships with all our big dogs. We looked at other trainers but nothing came even close to the professionalism and experience that Dave had with dogs. It is not just basic obedience but how to really live and play and thrive with our dogs. We have continued building our relationships with them and to deal with their changing needs. I highly recommend Dave The Dog Trainer and Superdog for anyone serious in the care and training of their dogs! Extraordinary facility and trainer!

I started working with Dave after researching my options with friends and on the web. I work as a Firefighter and it seems like everyone I work with has a dog or opinion on the best route to take. When I adopted Bud he was already a year old and was, I think, neglected by his first owner. He didnt seem to have any training other than self will. Dave gave me the tools to train Bud in a way that allowed me to relate to Bud on his level. Bud has always responded to the techniques Dave taught me. Most important though is the fact that Bud has never seemed to respond in the negative at any time. He seems to know when it’s time to work and gets excited eaxh time. I have seen no limit to what I can teach Bud using Dave’s techniques. I wouldnt go to anyone else if I had to do it over again. One last note..Dave’s support after the sale has been first rate.

Dave knows more about dog training than anyone I have ever met. He is an honest sincere person who cares deeply for dogs and the work he does. What dave does is take you through the process of how to get the dog you want with incredibly effective yet non-abusive methods. He knows and teaches that training a dog is just as important for the dogs safety and well being as it is for the owner. I could not give him a higher recommendation and he is the kind of trainer that will help you uncover not only what you don’t know but even what you don’t know you don’t know.

We are a work in progress. I hired Dave earlier this year to help with two unruly dogs. After several training sessions he has given me tools to help improve their behavior. While we are still working on the one that is aggressive there have been improvements. My neighbors comment on a regular basis about how my beagle is doing so well. Inside the house when guests come over they stay on their bed, no jumping, hollering, or any of the ruckus that used to accompany guests. It’s simple this is a service that works if you follow through. Don’t expect results if you don’t attempt the program. I get that we all want things to change over night, trust me if I could make my Shiba Inu magically love all dogs I would gladly do it, but the reality is you have to work just as hard as the program. In the end if you don’t have the drive, time, or commitment don’t blame it on the trainer.

VERY SATISFIED & RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE Great job :) I would recommend Superdog and David Baron to any dog owner looking for a very happy and well trained puppy or dog. They helped me tremendously and my dog was a real brat lol. My Yorkie “Frankie” was so destructive, tearing up and chewing everything. He also was IMPOSSIBLE! to potty train. He was also a terrible barker which i kind of expected being a small breed dog. But what made me finally contact Superdog for help was when “Frankie” started to run away, escaping under my fence, and running away from me out of my front door. He would not come back no matter what. For my baby’s safety, I put him, and me!, in their program. What I ended up with was a totally different dog. What a difference. “Frankie” is a perfect gentleman, and I can take him anywhere. He now has free run of the house, NO MORE CHEWING, and thank God… NO MORE POTTY and POOP ACCIDENTS :) :) “Frankie” and I can now Great job :) I would recommend Superdog and David Baron to any dog owner looking for a very happy and well trained puppy or dog. KOMONDOR owner My Komondor was trained by Dave because I wanted someone with exp with the breed. All dogs are not alike and Komondors are quite stubborn and can be very aggressive. Dave provided some photos of a Komondor he trained in the past at his property. He was able to answer the many questions I had and the contract was quite simple. I knew exactly what I was signing up for. I had four lessons at his home and to this day still practice what he taught us. The lessons were each 2-3 hours in length. My dog behaves and immediately follows my commands. I have recommended Dave to several co workers and have never received any bad feedback. If you’re looking for someone to kiss your ass and tell you how cute your dog is go to Pet Smart. If you want your dog trained call Dave. Feel free to e mail me with questions, you can also come see my dog and the results I received from Dave’s program. My e-mail is toddwoolley@gmail.com

So far go good My Puppy and I are currently working with Dave. After two lessons,I have to say I am very pleased so far. In fact, yesterday I had to take my dog to the vet for an infection. The vet said to me that “I don’t know what you are doing to train him, but you have done a wonderful job” She went on to say that she had never had a dog of his size and age so well behaved, and walk on lead so well. One of my biggest fears about taking him to training in the first place, was that I didn’t want his personality to change. My fears were for not. He is still the same fun loving dog.

I have an English Bulldog that is 6 1/2 years old. Most other trainers would say it was too late to train him. Our dog was showing signs of jealousy and would growl at my infant son. I had only one chance at working on his behavior or he was going to be given up to a new home. Dave worked patiently with us and our dog and I am very happy to say that we have made more progress than I could ever imagine! If it wasn’t for Dave and his techniques, we would not have our dog living with us today. One thing that people have to remember is that we as people also have to be trained, if you go in with an open mind and know that if you do all that Dave tells you to, you WILL be successful!

Most practical, no nonsense, and completely effective training around! For all of those out there who want a well behaved, obedient, happy dog, Dave is your answer! I did my homework before choosing Dave to help me train my dog, and was impressed with the amount of insight I gained just from going through his website alone! Another thing I noticed right away was that there were no age limits, as I was worried that because my dog was not a puppy anymore she would be lost in her ways. Dave’s training works, it’s just that simple! Dave doesn’t just wave treats around (which has never worked for my dog) he actually works at the behavior level, of both the dog and the owner. I say this because he made me realize that I am just as much a part of the training process as my dog is. I have read many dog training books, including The Monks of New Skete, and Cesar Milan, and though I thought I new the theories and how I should interact with my dog, actually putting what I had read to For all of those out there who want a well behaved, obedient, happy dog, Dave is your answer! I have read many dog training books, including The Monks of New Skete, and Cesar Milan, and though I thought I new the theories and how I should interact with my dog, actually putting what I had read to practice was a whole other ball game. I myself needed someone coaching me and telling me what I was doing wrong. This is what makes Dave such an amazing trainer, he teaches the owner how to train the dog, which I think is the only way you can ever get true and lasting results. After only the first lesson, my dog Isis (a 4.5 yr old female shepherd/ cattle dog mix) was already acting dramatically different. We hadn’t even worked on her issue of jumping on people, and that same day after the lesson, when my boyfriend came home she did not jump on him, didn’t even try! Like Dave says, a dog is either obedient, or not; there is no in between. Isis was not a very difficult dog, but she would bark up a storm when people came to the house, she was terrible on a leash, she jumped on everyone, and she would sometimes become nervous and aggressive. After the first lesson she was beginning to recognize her order in the pack, and learned that she was NOT the leader, I was. I have had two lessons with Dave so far and already I get so many compliments from people about how well behaved my dog is. I only dreamed of this before! She is doing so great on the leash, she can down stay for over an hour and not get up until I tell her to, and best of all, she is happy and calm. She now realizes that she can trust me, that I know what’s best, and it really shows! I could go on forever talking about how much of a difference I see in myself and my dog now that I have been training with Dave, but I have to stop at some point : ) so I will end with saying that Dave’s methods are effective, but you have to be willing to work at it, and actually practice what he teaches you, don’t just go back to your old ways and expect the dog to miraculously be transformed. If you want a wonderful companion in your dog, one that you can take hiking and not worry about them running after a squirrel, then call and trust Dave. Don’t waste your money on programs that seem cheaper, they will be more expensive in the long run because they won’t work! It is more than a smart investment, because you will learn how to train your future dogs as well.

No bloodthirsty Rottweilers here… just a little Min Pin puppy we love TOO much. We couldn’t leave the house for a minute without the most ear-piercing, neighbor-infuriating howl. We tried everything…. including other (more costly) trainers. I have not heard my dog howl once since then. I have left him at home for the whole day while at work and recorded…. not a peep. If I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have believed it. When I saw Daves website, I almost didn’t bother calling given what I assumed to be an insane rate. Not only was his rate lower than the other trainer we tried and failed with, but it was actually pretty reasonable. I appreciated how Dave charges a flat-rate- not per hour. Not only was his rate lower than the other trainer we tried and failed with, but it was actually pretty reasonable. I appreciated how Dave charges a flat-rate- not per hour. But more importantly, he tried to get as much done as he can in as few sessions as possible. He won’t string you along and keep the money flowing… something I cannot say for the other trainer we tried… In fact, when I told Dave I was so impressed I had to write a testimonial, he told me to wait a few weeks so I could make sure the problem had been taken care of! In the increasingly shady world of the internet, now that is a sign of an honest, confident businessman with a true service to provide. I really, truly wish I had called Dave as soon as the problem surfaced. I would have saved so many countless arguments with frustrated neighbors, tons of money at doggy daycare and hours of worrying over if I can keep my furry bundle of howling joy should he not learn to quiet down. We are so grateful for him. All in all: CALL DAVE THE DOG TRAINER!

Best Dog Trainer in Sacramento Actually I have owned and trained several dogs for AKC Competitions, and put titles on three of my girls (Rotties) CD, CDX, and UD. I David Baron at Superdog, because of his credentials and National Recognition as a leading expert in Aggressive and fearful dogs, dogs with Severe … I mean Severe Behavior Problems. This was definitely the case with my recent 2 year old, female Rottie named Trixi. I thought I did everything right, with proper bonding, socialization, and early training, all positive reinforcement, after all I had show, trained and titled my own dogs before. I thought I could handle her fear aggression towards other dogs and strangers, but at about 110 pounds, she went where she wanted to. Trixi also had very bad fears of loud noises, and hated the vacuum cleaner and any tool that made a loud noise. Taking her in the car was fine, but she became super aggressive if we tried to get her out of the car, her safety spot. He spent about 2 hours the first meeting just gathering information and observing and having us interact with our dog. Then a miracle happened. Dave took Trixi and spent no more than 6 minutes with her. He then brought out two dogs, one well mannered, and one dog that was very excitable and a bit aggressive. Within 6 minutes Dave had Trixi a 110 pound Rottie completely calm and under control around two dogs!! I could not believe it. Trixi was siting calmly and attentive to Dave and looked happy and motivated to do what was next. This all happened before we even signed up for the training!! To be honest the cost was more than I thought it would be, but after my wife and I discussed it further we decided to sign up and do dog training with Superdog. Dave was our dog trainer and dog behaviorist. I learned so much about how dogs think and process information and how to read my dogs body language for calming signals and stress signals. The training and recovery of Trixi was amazing to say the leash. Now after working Dave at Superdog, we can take Trixi anywhere. There has been no more aggression ….even a growl in over 9 months. What used to be a nightmare for me and my wife is now a wonderful joy of a dog like the ones I used to train and show. Without a doubt I would highly recommend Superdog and David Baron for ANY Dog Behavior Problem, or any Obedience Training. In my opinion, David Baron is a Dog Trainer and Expert Dog Behaviorist that Sacramento is lucky to have. I did a ton of research before selecting a dog trainer and dog training company. I was amazed at my research that only a couple trainers and behaviorists in the country have the education, credentials, and success that Dave and Superdog have in cases of really severe behavior problems. The cost was well worth the results and the professional service and training results we received. We personally have referred several friends and they have all came back with similar positive results and great experiences with Superdog. Thanks to Dave and Niki at Superdog !!!!!!

He bit four or five people before I got him. He wouldnt take food from me or eat anywhere near me, and if someone approached him, he would snap. He is sweet, happy, mellow, obedient, and most of all he is no longer aggressive. He loves when I feed him treats and is even more gentle than Blaze! Blaze was the headstrong one. you’d tell him to lay and he’d look at you like your crazy. He wouldnt Heel, or do anything! His excessive Hyper-Activity left me feeling like there was nothing I could do to control him. Now Blaze and Max live together in my apartment and they are wonderful dogs. David Baron is the best dog trainer I’ve ever seen. He can handle any Behavior Issues, any Aggression issues, and he is Honest, Straight-Forward,Hardworking, and Dedicated everyday to what he does. Question others who dont feel this way.

David, I just wanted to thank you and Shawn your trainer fromRhode Island again. Zeus had a fabulous night and day. He slept in his own bed all night! Also he did so well with all commands when his leash was on. When we had taken his leash off for him to have free time in the backyard, and he came in without a leash, he ran away a few times when he did not want to go into a down. He wanted to go into the media room instead and enjoy a relaxation time with our son. I quickly got his leash on him, sent him to his bed followed by a down, where he stayed for over half an hour. I released him and then lead him into the media room for time with our son. We discussed the “no just walking in policy” with our son; he gets it. Two friends did come home with him today. Marcus lead the way in with his friends behind him. I had Zeus on a leash behind me on a down. He was very happy to see the two friends. One he had previously growled at; Zeus was totally at ease and calm. I later released him and put him on a down in his bed. We awere all amazed and so happy with his progress. Thank you for giving us the right tools. …Annita & Zeus

“Dave the Dog Trainer Works Miracles! I have 3 dogs. One 8 year old Jack Russell that has never listened to a command. After spending time with Dave she is actually obedient. Next, is my stud Axle. Hes a 2 year American Bulldog and huge. I took him as a pup to see Dave and now once every other month to hang out. Axle is the most well behaved dog I have ever had. Considering the fact that he is an American Bulldog, dogs that are known to be aggressive and stubborn. He has no aggression towards anything and listens to anything I say. He has really become my dream dog thanks to Dave. 3rd is our new dog, Midge. I had her sent out from the East Coast. Dave let me pick her up from his place and kept all of my dogs there so they could socialize properly. Midge needs work, and thanks to the training I have received from Dave I am able to do it myself. Dave Baron is always there for me and my dogs I find it funny that all of the bad reviews are coming from the save person, obviously a jealous competitor. I have 3 dogs. If I need to go out of town he welcomes the dogs to his house for however long I need. Its like their weekend retreat and they come back happy and recharged. Anything I have ever asked from Dave I have received plus some. I seriously doubt a pinch collar hurt a reviewer’s dog. Its probably the dog running around and jumping off people. Don’t believe the naysayers! I’ve met plenty of dog trainers and none can come close to being a fraction as good as Dave. He will change your life and make your family member; your pet, more enjoyable and behaved.”
